Premium showing at Margin London
Thursday, 05 August 2010

Despite the ongoing uncertainty of the economic climate, the August 2010 edition of independent show Margin consolidated it's position as the most directional & credible UK trade event for streetwear and young fashion which, even at the 19th edition, still has the pulling power to attract leading retailers from quality stores, many of whom do not attend regular tradeshows.

Carefully edited, the premium selection of new and established labels, handpicked to exhibit at Margin, proved too strong a draw for key independent streetwear purveyors including Slam City Skates and Supra from London, Ran and Wood from Manchester, The Consortium and Richmond Classics from Bournemouth, Switch from the Isle of Wight, Urban Industry from Eastbourne, Cooshti and My Yard from Bristol, and Wellgosh from Leicester.

Visiting buyers and press enthused about the mix of credible established brands such as Silas (who selected Margin for their trade show debut to mark their return to Europe after a four year absence), Obey, WeSC, Makia, Gravis, Duffs, and Dephect, alongside new brands making their trade launch at the show, such as 1ina100, Emilythepemily, AnyForty, KNK, Trikki, and Eva Evanovich.

Unlike many other larger trade events who welcome all-comers in an attempt to swell visitor statistics, Margin is open to buyers, press, multi-label agents & distributors only, so exhibitors were able to devote their time to dealing with serious visitors from key UK & international stores and magazines intent on making contact and doing business.

As always, Margin welcomed independent stores and boutiques from across the UK and internationally that the show is well known for attracting (such as Ace, American Retro, Boy Parker, FortyFive, Hardware, Ju-Ju, Kuji, Kusje, Lunacy, Pie in the Sky, Potassium, Soho Hip, Social, and Tyto), as well as drawing a strong following of multiples including Ark Clothing, Frontline, Joy, Moist, and Triple-S, and online players of all sizes including ASOS, Chemical Records, CX London, Extreme Pie, Grindstore, Mr Shunk, and Surfdome.

From large stores such as Bentalls and Urban Outfitters, to leading boutiques like Sarah Coggles and Paradis, Margin welcomed successful stores of all sizes, stores who remain successful by staying informed and on top of credible new brands that can generate retail excitement.

The 19th edition of the longest-running independent trade show in London also welcomed key international stores from Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Italy, and Japan, all keen to tap into UK streetwear & young fashion at Margin.

The next edition of Margin London will take place in February 2011. More information at www.margin.tv and www.margin.tv/pressroom

New brands at Margin
Wednesday, 23 June 2010

Always on the look out for fresh talent, trade show Margin confirmed a host of new brands for August 2010. Besides up and coming labels, Margin will also showcase established brands. Garcia Madrid will present their mens tailoring, casualwear and accessories for the very first time at Margin. Their sharp and high quality menswear is inspired by art and design. Ethical Boston based brand Ideologie will also make their UK debut. The organic clothing company is known for their ethical philosophy and on-trend art prints. Cult brand Silas are making their UK return exclusively at Margin, and will sit alongside brands such as Obey, Dephect, and RVCA who have not exhibited in the UK for over two years.

Launched in 2002, independent tradeshow Margin is the brainchild of Odysseas Constantine. Offering directional clothing for both men and women, the exhibition is a platform for new design talent to exhibit and expose their collections to the British and international fashion trade and press.

Margin the indie fair Wednesday, 24 February 2010 Establishing itself as the trade fair for independent brands, Margin London attracted major international retailers alongside leading independents. This season Margin attracted indie boutiques from across the UK such as Ace, American Retro, Boy Parker, Eternal Envy, Foam, Lunacy, and Social. There was also a strong turnout of international buyers from across Europe and Japan that have regularly visited the show since its launch in 2002. Major department stores attended Margin including House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols, Liberty, Top Man & Top Shop Concessions, Next Brands, and Fenwick, as well as online retailers such as ASOS and Coggles to Ethics Girls and Backin10minutes visited the fair. It shows Margin reaches across the retail spectrum and wants to include all buyers with one common purpose: to stay informed and on top of new brands. The 18th edition of Margin saw an increase in visiting stores interested in fair-trade and organic clothing. Margin promotes indie brands Wednesday, 08 July 2009 With less than a month to go until trade exhibition Margin, a plethora of great design talent and new brands confirmed to take part in the show. The organisers were keen to state it was not just newcomers who were showing but new labels launching for the first time globally that can give retailers an edge over the competition. Over a third of exhibitors in August 2009 are making their global debut at Margin, another third are brand new to Margin or the UK arena, and the remaining third are previous exhibitors who had their trade launch at Margin and have proven their ranges have selling-power through key retailers with solid and successful sell-through. Margin will be the only independent trade event taking place this season in London.

Young fashion beats credit crunch Tuesday, 12 May 2009 Whilst the economical downturn seems to have no effect on young consumers, emerging streetwear labels keep on growing. Budding brands that exhibit at London tradeshow Margin and retailers that source from the bi-annual fashion fair are led to believe to be immune to the credit crunch. Margin is a trade-only event which showcases mens and womens upscale streetwear and directional tailoring with the next edition on the 2nd and 3rd of August 2009. With collections targeting a younger market, buyers and brands are questioning media coverage on a recession that has, so far, failed to impact on their businesses. Buyers who visited the February 2009 edition of Margin, the first edition since the word recession was publicly referred to by economists and politicians, reported that their business was unaffected and, in most cases, profit was up year on year. Exhibiting reaffirmed buoyant trading with many taking orders at the same level as previous pre-recession seasons as well as signing up new accounts. Regular Margin exhibitor Ray Buckley of womenswear label Yamama confirmed that he
