Premium showing at Margin London
Thursday, 05 August 2010

Despite the ongoing uncertainty of the economic climate, the August 2010 edition of independent show Margin consolidated it's position as the most directional & credible UK trade event for streetwear and young fashion which, even at the 19th edition, still has the pulling power to attract leading retailers from quality stores, many of whom do not attend regular tradeshows.

Carefully edited, the premium selection of new and established labels, handpicked to exhibit at Margin, proved too strong a draw for key independent streetwear purveyors including Slam City Skates and Supra from London, Ran and Wood from Manchester, The Consortium and Richmond Classics from Bournemouth, Switch from the Isle of Wight, Urban Industry from Eastbourne, Cooshti and My Yard from Bristol, and Wellgosh from Leicester.

Visiting buyers and press enthused about the mix of credible established brands such as Silas (who selected Margin for their trade show debut to mark their return to Europe after a four year absence), Obey, WeSC, Makia, Gravis, Duffs, and Dephect, alongside new brands making their trade launch at the show, such as 1ina100, Emilythepemily, AnyForty, KNK, Trikki, and Eva Evanovich.

Unlike many other larger trade events who welcome all-comers in an attempt to swell visitor statistics, Margin is open to buyers, press, multi-label agents & distributors only, so exhibitors were able to devote their time to dealing with serious visitors from key UK & international stores and magazines intent on making contact and doing business.

As always, Margin welcomed independent stores and boutiques from across the UK and internationally that the show is well known for attracting (such as Ace, American Retro, Boy Parker, FortyFive, Hardware, Ju-Ju, Kuji, Kusje, Lunacy, Pie in the Sky, Potassium, Soho Hip, Social, and Tyto), as well as drawing a strong following of multiples including Ark Clothing, Frontline, Joy, Moist, and Triple-S, and online players of all sizes including ASOS, Chemical Records, CX London, Extreme Pie, Grindstore, Mr Shunk, and Surfdome.

From large stores such as Bentalls and Urban Outfitters, to leading boutiques like Sarah Coggles and Paradis, Margin welcomed successful stores of all sizes, stores who remain successful by staying informed and on top of credible new brands that can generate retail excitement.

The 19th edition of the longest-running independent trade show in London also welcomed key international stores from Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Italy, and Japan, all keen to tap into UK streetwear & young fashion at Margin.

The next edition of Margin London will take place in February 2011. More information at www.margin.tv and www.margin.tv/pressroom

About Margin The longest-running independent trade event in London, Margin is an intimate and credible showroom of edited design talent with the next exhibition being the 18th edition + Nearly eight years strong, Margin is a proven and established trade exhibition linking fresh talent with key press and buyers (many of whom do not like going to traditional trade shows) + The Original and the best platform for new talent for over seven years, Margin was established to help new labels reach a wider buying and press audience + Retailers travel the world looking for the next big thing but are never going to find up-and-coming designers at a show whose costs prohibit fresh talent + +++ Margin is a curated event where Buyers, Editors, and Stylists know they can find great new labels season after season and don't have to wade through hall after hall of established brands to find directional new products to offer their readers or shoppers. +++ Spaces are limited to appropriate brands only that have a directional edge and something new to offer + at larger events where mainstream brands take centre-stage and priority, new labels can often be an opportunity missed.
