Urban Industry, Eastbourne +

Starting as a small shop in seaside town Eastbourne, Urban Industry has grown to be the largest independent online purveyor of streetwear brands in the UK. With skatewear classics such as Stussy, Nike, Adidas, Obey, and Volcom, Urban Industry is also renowned for taking on new and homegrown brands that they feel their customer base will appreciate such as Supremebeing, King Apparel, Seventyseven, My Yard, Ultrarama, and Junkfunk.

Margin London Autumn/Winter 2010-11 Edition Despite being the longest-running independent trade event in London, Margin remains a fringe affair and an untapped resource for emerging street wear and young fashion labels. These brands are born out of personal passions often created with handcrafted touches and finishes with local sourcing at the core whether it be the UK or Latvia. DENIM Laundry Maid Jeans are a relatively new name in the premium denim market utilising the British tendency for expert tailoring to produce high quality cuts with meticulous attention to detail and perfect constructional finishing. Futurism inspires Hypnosis fashion-forward denim collection, littered with deconstructed detailing from off-centre button fly fastening, twisted seams and dropped-crotch cuts. ACCESSORIES Margin is a hotbed for quirky one-off jewellery brands. We loved Sansonnet, a Tokyo based label whose pretty pieces resembled re-worked antiques meets kiddy-craft kit - very Harajuku. Hannah Makes Things is another fun brand, specialising in pendants ranging from mini donuts to rainbows to cassette tapes! One of the highlight accessories concepts was Sneakart a range of durable but removable, art-inspired stickers that can be adapted to customise any sports shoe shape. GRAPHIC TEES As expected, graphic tees abound at street wear shows and Margin was no exception. Each label seem to major in art first, t-shirt printing second producing some original graphic ideas in the process. Bristol-based label My Yard commissions local graphic artists to produce designs for the tee label in a range of eye-popping colours. Conquer is rooted in fine-art with the design team producing intricate illustrations which are then applied using a specially developed printing method to ensure the clearest transfer. Finally, Junkfunk is a Brighton-based label entrenched in typography and revolutionary-flavoured graphic design (think Spanish civil war slogans and Cold War motifs). READY TO WEAR There was something for everyone, RTW-wise. Hysteric Asteria designer Alexia Kirmitsi has developed a reversible webbed/inverted knit technique that adorns oversized jumpers and trims jersey dresses. Brighton-based Jojo & Mac produced knitted jumpers and cardigans with cutesy motifs like all-over YSL style strawberries and large placement cats. Germaine Minette brought a range of detailed mens shirting with subtle panelled collars, contrast inserts and lining and wonky welt pockets. 21dgrs are a truly global brand, designed in Hamburg, based and manufactured in Bali, sold in the far-reaches of the Southern hemisphere- even Byron Bay! The collection is diverse with hand-dyed silk dresses, printed tees and detailed washed sweats. Found comprised of unique items creatively salvaged from vintage garments and fabrics. Hannah Makes Things Lazy Oaf Lua Lua Found Laundry Maid Sansonnet 21dgrs Conquer Found Germain MInette Hypnosis Hysteric Asteria Jojo and Mac Junk Funk My Yard Revenge Sneakart Sansonnet

More than half of the show, which is being held at The Music Rooms in Mayfair, is made up of brand new emerging designers who have chosen Margin as their global launchpad to meet with key buyers from directional independent, multiple and department stores, as well as consumer and trade fashion press. Taking place on the 14th & 15th February 2010, Margin also sees the return of many previous exhibitors who have successfully launched and grown their wholesale business at Margin London including UK brands such as Lazy Oaf, Mr Wingate, Junkfunk, Conquer, Me & Zena, My Yard, and Ultrarama, as well as international brands such as Mimobots, St Vacant, Germain Minette, and Vestal Watches. The February 2010 edition of Margin is a truly international event with exhibitors from Austria, China, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Latvia, and the USA joining homegrown talent from across the UK & Ireland; and many international buyers have pre-registered to visit, from countries such as France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Italy, Ukraine, and Russia. With UK buyers from large stores such as House of Fraser, Fenwicks, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Williams & Griffin, Joy, and ASOS already pre-registered, plus the many independent boutiques Margin is well-known for consistently welcoming season after season, clued-up buyers from key stores understand that Margin is the prime location to discover new and directional design to offer their consumers a real point of difference from the competition. The February 2010 edition will be the 18th, which not only makes Margin the longest-running independent trade exhibition in London, but also maintains the position of Margin as the most successful, affordable and directional event that gives new and emerging designers a high-profile and order-writing platform to meet with key buyers and press. About Margin The longest-running independent trade event in London, Margin is an intimate and credible showroom of edited design talent with the next exhibition being the 18th edition + Nearly eight years strong, Margin is a proven and established trade exhibition linking fresh talent with key press and buyers (many of whom do not like going to traditional trade shows) + The Original and the best platform for new talent for over seven years, Margin was established to help new labels reach a wider buying and press audience + Retailers travel the world looking for the next big thing but are never going to find up-and-coming designers at a show whose costs prohibit fresh talent + +++ Margin is a curated event where Buyers, Editors, and Stylists know they can find great new labels season after season and don't have to wade through hall after hall of established brands to find directional new products to offer their readers or shoppers. +++ Spaces are limited to appropriate brands only that have a directional edge and something new to offer + at larger events where mainstream brands take centre-stage and priority, new labels can often be an opportunity missed. Since the exhibitions first started back in 2002, Margin can lay claim to providing the successful trade launch-pad for many brands such as Supremebeing, Lady Luck Rules OK, Dephect, Emily & Fin, EIO, Missmilne, Worn Free, Chateau Roux, Your Eyes Lie, Sugarhill, King Apparel, Terratag, Lazy Oaf, Famous Forever, Yamama, and Ruby Rocks, as well as the UK launching point of overseas brands including Upper Playground, Eastpak Apparel, Loreak Mendian, Syndrome, Nooka, Gama-Go, Mimobots, Double Goose, Stereo Sound Agency, Diamond Supply Co, Urban Originals, Uzi, and Z-Boy amongst many others.
