Margin is pleased to welcome Gamma Proforma who will be providing the sounds of the February 2011 exhibition, as well as a limited-edition CD exclusively for visiting buyers and press featuring tracks from their roster of great artists +
Back in 2000 Irish Artist/DJ Rob Swain auctioned off slabs of his precious vinyl collection to raise funds to set up Gamma Proforma +
The idea was to create a new kind of label, beyond the traditional music model, a publisher that would embrace all forms with an emphasis on promoting the work of upcoming creatives via bespoke products, events and projects + With no single genre or discipline headlining, the label would take no references from any particular style or movement +
Conceived in Belfast, established in Edinburgh, developed in London, the label’s output has grown and diversified steadily each year +
Today Gamma Proforma is a vibrant art’s antagonist within the arches of underground music and graphic arts + Landmark releases from Parsley Monkphat, Third Shock and Fatalists have soundtracked the story that’s accompanied stunning artwork from the likes of Syd Mead, Elph, Paul Pope and others +
As well as providing the soundtrack and CD for the show in February 2011, Gamma Proforma will als be launching their first installment of limited-edition clothing at Margin London +

Freshly Squeezed Music is a Brighton-based, UK independent record label and publisher.
Evolved from the seminal London club night, Club Montepulciano that ran for over 11 years (and was described as a “clubland institution” by the Evening Standard and as one of the “things you have to do before you can call yourself a real Londoner” by Time Out). Having pioneered the emerging Lounge, Cabaret and Burlesque scenes through out the 90s, when the sound and style went mainstream, setting up a label seemed an obvious step.
Featuring the best contemporary lounge music from a collection of forward-looking international artists, the label also released the debut album from the clubs resident DJ, Lemon.
In 2005, when the club retired (while still going strong) Freshly Squeezed was created to broaden the roster while releasing a second artist album from Lemon and music from The Voodoo Trombone Quartet, The Pinker Tones and Foxglov.
With eclectic and excitingly individual artists such as Don Air, Dodo, Stereo De Luxe, Lodekka and more now putting material out on the label, and “landmark” (Mixmag) compilations like White Mink : Black Cotton, indie-chart success, an MTV Dance top ten, the Eclectrik label sampler nominated one of the “best records of the year” (Bearded Magazine), Freshly Squeezed continues to find fresh, quirky and original new music that is both underground but accessible. “Future cult classics” said The Independent.
In addition, after a run of high-profile synch licensing successes, 2007 saw the launch of a sister publishing company. During the first year, their music accompanied several major Hollywood films (including Knocked Up and The Heartbreak Kid), sound-tracked numerous TV shows, most notably Ugly Betty (many times over), became an MTV theme tune, and appeared in many house-hold name ads. Tracks have also appeared in games like LittleBIGplanet on the SONY PlayStation…
So if you think you havent heard the music of Freshly Squeezed, think again.

With a slice of infectious breakbeat funk, label-signing Feature Cast invigorated an Apple iPod TV ad, and Pepe Deluxe sound-tracked Levi’s biggest and most successful advertising campaign to date. +
Independent label Catskills Records was formed in 1996 by a London / Brighton collective to release underground talent from their home turf. The label represents the best that both scenes have to offer, and has since spread it’s wings to other parts of the UK with Bushy, Zero Theory, Sonorous Star, Nylon Rhythm Machine, Black Grass, Vibra and now to Europe and the rest of the world with the signings of Pepe Deluxe and Husky Rescue from Finland and Capsule from Germany +
There is no particular formula, no particular style and no particular genre of music that represents Catskills; it’s all about the Head Nod Factor: if it’s got it then they’ll spin it +
Catskills is run by people involved at every stage of the game, DJ’s, producers, and designers, with the emphasis always on experimentation, artistic freedom and artist diversity +

NUBLU
Margin London was pleased to welcome the sounds of New York Club and Record Label Nublu who provided the soundtrack to the February 2008 edition.
As well as providing the backing soundtrack to the show, Nublu provided a limited-edition Margin CD exclusively for Margin visitors featuring new tracks from their stable of artists.
When people ask about the Nublu sound, Ilhan Ersahin, the bandleader and owner/founder of Nublu keeps the answer simple: We play music.
To explain a little more, though, the Nublu sound is a unique blend of elements that could only have been conjured up in the true melting pot of the world, New York City. It started off three years ago at 62 Avenue C with Ilhan and his friends some from Brazil, some from Eastern Europe, some from the UK, and some from the US. They would just come together and jam, their improvisations developing into compositions that grew out of all their influences, shared and individual: the soul of New Orleans, the rhythms of Sao Paolo, the edge of Bristol, the dub of Kingston, and the beats of DJs from across the globe. Eventually those jams became songs, and those momentary combinations of musicians became bands, bands like Kudu, The Brazilian Girls, Wax Poetic, Forro in the Dark, and Love Trio. All representing different moments in time and different sounds, but a similar ideal.
Nublu, the club and the record label, is not about a genre. It’s not about a type of person. It’s not even necessarily about music. Nublu is about right now.
